Liebster Award

Navimie has chain lettered me with the Liebster Awards Q&A thingie for people with less than 3000 followers. I found the full rule-set on Wording Well. Seems that if you don't do it and pass it forward you are only hurting yourself and your blog will become abandoned. Sheesh! Melodrama much?

1. If you worked for Blizzard in the WoW department, what job would you like to do? Quest design! There are so many missed opportunities. Post-Cata Silithus could have had a bombing run quest over AQ. A very in-depth revision of the Blood Elf starting area quests incorporating the purification of the Sunwell. Allow quest hubs to be accessed out of order without having to do all the quests in the zone in order like the old days, it locks out friends joining up together if they have all these prerequisites.

2. If any of these races became playable, which would you choose and why - Murloc, Naga, Ogre?
The Naga. They help out the Blood Elves during WCIII against those evil Humans and they are related to the highbourne. Plus I can't stand Murlocs and Ogres.

3. What has been your greatest frustration in WoW?
Attunements! I hated those things. It prevented new players catching up, it forced more experienced players to do older content week after week, and they weren't even useful in teaching players anything about their role. It was time filler for them and everyone else involved. While I love questing, questing shouldn't lock-out content from people. Daily Quests at the start of this expansions suffered the same lock-out mechanic, but to Valor Rewards instead of Instances themselves.

4. If you could design a Children's week orphan - what places would you take he/she to visit?
I just happened to have covered a year ago in a older post I did for one of Luxy's Wishful Wednesday. Li Li isn't an Orphan (only her Mother is dead, her Father Po is alive), but you should travel to places like Anglers Wharf, the peak of Mount Neverest, and the four big Temples to the Celestials.

5. Name an item of clothing/weapon that you wish there was an in game equivalent of for transmog.
A High Elf Double Glaive. There are various weapons in the game called Glaives, most famous being Warglaive of Azzinoth which is a Night Elven Double Glaive. What I mean is the Double Glaives used by Silvermoon Guardians. Heck let us have the Silvermoon Guardian uniform too!

On the same vein, Tauren Log Weapons, their weapons from Warcraft 3. And make them Tauren exclusive. Having Tauren transmog their 2H weapons into Logs or their 1H into Smaller Logs would go a long way to making them visually unique.

Have the transmogable racial weapons/guard armour be a rewards for hitting exalted with your own faction. As it is, the only rewards getting exalted with your own city faction is a cloak.

6. Do you prefer donuts, bagels or muffins? And any particular flavour?
Never had a bagel, and I do like donuts and muffins. If I want something filling I'd go a muffin, if I want something sweet I'll go a donut. I guess chocolate toping for Donut and Chocolate or Chocolate Chip Muffin. I don't really have an overall preference between the two, sorry.

7. If you could have any car in the world - what car would you drive?
I don't know cars at all. I guess something red and convertible? They look nice.

8. What item do you want in game the most?
Ashes of Al'ar! The Phoenix is the symbol of the Blood Elves. It has a load of importance to both myself and McTacky.

9. Tell me WHY you like your favourite three blogs!
I don't read many blogs. But those I do, I get to see the game from other points of view. My focus is one set of things, so to experience by proxy the other aspects of the game and in doing so learning about the writer is a very enriching experience.

10. What is the BEST thing Blingtron has given you?
I got a Lil' Bling!

11. Tell me about your most cringeworthy moment (doesn't have to be WoW).
Looking back, I made a bunch of mistakes while levelling my first toon that make me cringe. Trying to be the 'tank' without understanding what that word meant and what gear it required and what spells and talents to use would be the major one. The first time I even heard the phrase 'tank' was in Zul'Farak and I assumed it mean 'damage' since in real life tanks blow stuff up and was some annoying 'joke' this random kept going on and on about and not an actual term.

Going by the rules I have to provide 11 random facts about yourself now.

1. I am a member of a Star Trek PBeM RPG since 1997. I've run the website since 2001.
2. McTacky would have been race changed to Pandaren when the expansion came out, I even had a transmog set ready for it. But when it was revealed that there wouldn't be any Pandaren Paladins, I created his Blood Knight set instead.
3. I wear glasses because of astigmatism
4. Atain, my first toon, is my only toon not to have 'Tacky' in his name.
5. I have medium length dark brown hair.
6. I have a level 70 Monk in Diablo III.
7. I hate how my voice sounds.
8. I started playing World of Warcraft in March 2005 on Khadgar server.
9. My favourite food in the world is Swiss Chicken.
10. I am worried about my healing in the Normal Raid later tonight.
11. I have a Diploma of Land and Engineering Survey Drafting.

Now I am supposed to nominate people with questions next. I really do not feel comfortable doing that, so I won't. Sorry to break the chain, I just hope I don't get cursed or whatever.

Flashback: Master Blood Knight McTacky

McTacky on his new thalassian charger, sporting the then popular Outland Clown look!
Within the ranks of the Blood Knight order, there exists an inner circle of elite knights. Members of the circle represent the most dedicated, skilled, and trustworthy of all Blood Knights and are handpicked by the leadership. Each candidate for membership must have a sponsor within the circle and must demonstrate their dedication to the order's central tenets.

Many years ago...
"I have chosen to sponsor you for standing as a Blood Knight Master, if this is your wish," spoke Lady Liadrin, the first and leader of the Blood Knight order.

Blood Knight Aloysius McTacky was still kneeling before the Blood Knight Matriarch. He nodded. He'd just returned from a mission into the city Stratholm to act against the Order of the Silver Hand. McTacky had snuck in at the Deathholm district of the city reached Alonsus Chapel and douced their Eternal Flame.

"That you have chosen to accept my offer speaks well of you, McTacky. Ours is the true way of utilizing the Light. I wish you luck in the task I am about to set for you, but I'm certain you'll prove yourself more than capable," spoke Lady Liadrin.

McTacky was given a Items for Magister Astalor Bloodsworn, a list of goods to procure.

"Without such contributions, the order would fall apart. I will give you a list of items Magister Astalor Bloodsworn's men require to keep us supplied with Light energy for our magics," assured Lady Liadrin.

~~~~Weeks later~~~~
"Have you returned with the materials Magister Astalor requires, McTacky?" asked Lady Liadrin.
McTacky nodded.
"40 Runecloth, 10 Sungrass, 6 Arcanite Bar, 5 Dark Rune, a Pristine Black Diamond, an Arcane Catalyst, a Crepuscular Powder, Tyr's Hand Holy Water, and 150 gold coins," listed off McTacky. The bag was heavy not just because of the items inside but the time and effort and cost it had taken to collect all of them.
"Excellent. It appears everything is here," said Lady Liadrin, "tell this Initiate to bring it all to Magister Astalor. There's no need to go on such a trivial errand yourself."
An Initiate Blood Knight came in.
"Initiate Khesed, deliver this parcel to Magister Astalor," said McTacky.
The Initiate accepted McTacky's quest and left. McTacky remembered way back to when he was an Initiate. Fresh from being infused with M'uru's power of light.
McTacky turned back to Lady Liadrin and knelt.
"Ours is the true way of utilizing the Light, McTacky. To show others that would call themselves 'paladins' the folly of their ways, we have sent an unmistakable message," spoke Lady Liadrin, "All who would oppose us would do well to heed the warning you delivered in Stratholm. Our foes should know that they are in peril, from the lowest foot soldier to the mightiest hero."
Blood Knight McTacky was adorned with the Blood Knight Tabard. He was now Master Blood Knight McTacky.
"You have earned your place in the ranks of the masters. Your dedication and prowess serve as an example for all Blood Knights," spoke Lady Liadrin.
McTacky was signalled to arise.
"You are to lead a unit into Outland to help reinforce the Prince's occupation of Tempest Keep, Master Blood Knight," ordered Lady Liadrin, "they need to bolster their numbers in the wake of Voren'thal the Seer and the Scyrers treachery."
As McTacky knew, defection of Voren’thal and his followers to Shattrath was the largest loss ever incurred by Prince Kael’thas’ forces. Nor were these just any blood elves. Many of the strongest and brightest amongst Kael’thas’ scholars and magisters had been swayed by Voren’thal's influence. Prince Kael’thas had gone to Outland with 15% of all the Blood Elves so the defection was a sizable number.
"As you command, Matriarch," agreed McTacky.
Countdown to Warlords of Draenor (19 week update/34 weeks to go)
38 or less weeks 34 weeks to go until Warlords of Draenor and Diablo III: Reaper of Souls is out today.
Very significant jump in my item level having gotten my Flex Chest/Shoulder upgrades and also completing my Legendary Cloak Quests. Still short of 553 in my holy set. Will keep trying for better Neck as well as doing Ordos now. Proved myself as a decent damager in Proving Grounds, but haven't hit Gold in either category yet. I've managed to do over 100 days of Orgrimmar jewelcrafting dallies since my countdown to Warlords of Draenor began and finally got around to farming Ancient Guo-Lai Cache for both of the last Pandaria recipes.
Important Stuff to do:
● Get Holy Item Level to over 553 (539 550/553)
● Get Ret Item Level to over 553 (512 530/553)
Finish Legendary Cloak questline (Complete)
● Proving Grounds: Proving Yourself: Gold Healer
Healing Performance: Week 2
I hit 548 item level before flex started. Last week I was at 539. In that run I obtained Chest Armour and during the week obtained my legendary cloak. So this run was with a 9 point jump and my new soft Haste Cap (which I reached the 30% haste 'soft cap' with the raid haste buff).
My new average heals seems to be 74k. Up from 57k last week. We also three healed the instance, not four healed. However this week I seemed to underperformed on Garrosh, not sure why.
Garrosh gave me my tier shoulders so my item level is now 550 after the raid and I've pushed to the 35% haste soft cap. I'll see how it changes things. Last item of flex gear I need is a neck and another tier item for set bonus (so SoO Wings 1 or 3). Also keep trying to Ordos loot and Celestials Gloves.
You can never be a Justicar!
One of the saddest days for McTacky was when patch 2.1 hit and the title of Justicar was Alliance Exclusive! What was the horde version? Conqueror. Bah. Never can be Justicar McTacky!
In back in the day Just McTacky was a term I used as my own secret pun. Just as in 'McTacky the Just' as well as merely McTacky.
I could theoretically get the title on my Alliance Alt, MacTacky, but I refuse to PVP on my Alliance Character. Plus it is an long grind to get The Justicar. And the title is not even account wide, it only can be used on the character that earned it, like many other PvP titles.
I did sour on the title in 2011. Terrorist/mass murder Anders Behring Breivik claims that he is a "Justicar Knight" which did sour this title for me of course and he mentioned playing World of Warcraft to relax in his manifest (recently he made news again because he went on a hunger strike for an PS3 in prison). Later I realised I can't let this terrible person change me like that!
Nowadays I have over 40 titles, achievement after achievement. But The Justicar will be the one thing I can never get.
Flashback: McTacky's Trade
"What a tacky necklace!"
"You are wearing a tacky pendant!"
"That ring is so tacky!"
McTacky Jewellers.
THE name in quality adornments in Silvermoon for over 300 years.
When you see a piece of jewellery, the first name you think of is Tacky!
----------------
Many years ago...
Blood Knight Aloysius McTacky wasn't yet a Master Blood Knight when he first laid eyes upon the pile of Azure Moonstone and realised what they could do. McTacky was a jewelcrafter, like his ancestors. These precious stones were from another world, the destroyed world of Draenor, now known as Outland. A place McTacky had yet to visit.
"I say we make Azure Moonstone Ring from these gems," said McTacky's Father, the now owner of the family business, "they will sell for far more than mere Wicked Moonstone Ring. Praise be to Prince Kael'thas!"
"I'm am not so certain," disagreed McTacky.
"Whereas I am certain. Shadow Oil is difficult to obtain these days. All Lesser Moonstone is good for is Amulet of the Moon. I am certain these Azure Moonstone will be able far more profitable and higher quality," said McTacky's Father, "bless Prince Kael'thas and his expedition for enriching the lives of all sin'dorei. You will do well to finish your training and aid the Prince in Outland!"
"I need to get back to the barracks before curfew," said McTacky, taking his leave, pocketing a Azure Moonstone on his way out.
Blood Knight Aloysius McTacky was thinking outside the box here. He was thinking beyond simple enchanted jewellery and trinkets, those had existed forever. It was the naaru, M'uru, who McTacky had encountered way back when he had become an Initiate. The Blood Elves of Silvermoon drew their magical energies from that huge living crystal in the absence of the sunwell. This Azure Moonstone could also have surprising power within them.
McTacky didn't return to his barracks has he had claimed, instead made a detour to the Silvermoon Inn and sat at a table. He opened his jewellers kit and took out his Loupe.
"Would you like something?" asked an Bartender.
"Just some water right now," said McTacky, trying to concentrate.
The Bartender sighed and used their mage powers to conjure some Conjured Water and placed it on the table before moving on.
There was power within, but the shape was wrong! If this gem was cut a certain way it would amply and release the power. Different shapes would release the energy in different ways. his could take some time.
"I will have some Dalaran Noir, bartender" said McTacky. This would be a late night.
"I have a name. I am Firehybrid, I just made Adept Bartender level!" said the Bartender.
McTacky wasn't paying attention to the Bartender. He was staring into the Blue Gem, seeing the potential inside. He didn't see the gem itself, but what it would become. He just had to cut away the pieces he didn't need. Lustrous, Solid, Sparkling and Stormy shapes perhaps?
Healing Performance
Went to the guild Flex Run of SoO Wing 1 & 4 last night with 16-19 people. We did Wing 4 first then Wing 1. My average HPS seems to be 57k, consistently half of what the Shaman who was topping the charts was doing.
I may have improved, but I still have a-ways to go.
With upgrades last night, I hit 542 item level. This coming week I should be able to finish off my cloak. We'll see if this is a gear situation or a play style one next week.
Since I hit the Flex target item level, I decided to reforge to the first Paladin soft Haste Cap (25.03% haste) for a third additional tick of Eternal Flame Icon Eternal Flame. I'll try for the next Haste Cap (30% haste) when I hit 553, by normal item level target.
My day in Raid Finder
During my last Countdown to Warlords of Draenor post, I mentioned trying to make an effort to do Raid Finder more to try to reach some of my important objectives:
● Get Holy Item Level to over 553 (539/553)
● Get Ret Item Level to over 553 (512/553)
● Finish Legendary Cloak quests (Titan Runestone: 8/12)
To that end I spent the day in Wings 3 & 4 of LFR ToT and then Wings 1, 2, 3 & 4 of LFR SoO while healing on McTacky.
Of the list of 19 Boss I killed yesterday, I hadn't done 7 before in Raid Finder, just in Flex. Jerks and rude people everywhere in these groups who I could just thankfully ignore.
While there, I was experimenting trying to get my HPS (heals per second) higher, there were people in there doing three times what I was doing.
Usually I just Beacon of Light a Tank, then spam Holy Light, Holy Shock, Holy Prism and Eternal Flame on the raid members with lower health precent. I usually finish fights with most of my mana.
During these runs I tried maintaining the Eternal Flame HoT on both Tanks, stood in melee range to use Crusader Strike to build up Holy Power so I could Eternal Flame & Light of Dawn more often and on more people. Used Divine Light on the Beacon of Light Tank for more Holy Power as well as use Holy Radiance far more often. Still used Holy Shock on cooldown on raid members as before. I was actually using most of my mana in fights.
 Before
After:
This isn't proof since the two fights are different, but I did move up two rankings and increased HPS significantly. I need to do more healing to know for certain.
The biggest problem was after Kalaxxi both tanks left and we were waiting for new tanks for 30 minutes. Then when we got new tanks, one of them left right away. About 1 am I called it quits and went to bed.
I obtained 3 Titan Runestone in all from the 12 boss that drop them (the two guaranteed drops & one luck drop). So just one left now, a better position than I started in.
No loot dropped. In his Holy set, McTacky's shoulder and chest are 500ish item level each and a 522 neck, so the LFR items would have been a step up. (Note to self - Save rerolls on Chest & Shoulder in Flex).
Avengers of Hyjal Exalted
65th Exalted Faction is the Avengers of Hyjal
Yes this post is 10 days late. I'll upload a bunch of screenshot from the adventures later, but it involved going to Firelands and killing bosses again and again until the rep hit Exalted. Big thanks for Azadelta, Owl and Lushen letting me tag along their mount runs in Firelands.
Guild Drama?
I just can't complain enough about the Frostwolves!
I mean first of all they are always too friendly! They help me get mats for my Legendaries, they run old instances with my alts, get me hard raid achievements. They have to have a hidden agenda! No one is this kind and pleasant!
Then they take my low Heals Per Second into Flex raids and let me have loot. If they are foolish enough to let people like me raid, what are they really up to?
The lack of any drama ever is so suspicious. I'd say scandalous. Is there a coverup? Is it a conspiracy?
I don't have the answers, so I'll put up with these perfectly pleasant and delightful people for now and undercover the truth!
PS: I love you all!
Countdown to Warlords of Draenor (17 week update/36 weeks to go)
Announced today was the collectors edition. Said to come out "on or before" 20th of December. This isn't a release date, but if it was, that means I have 40 weeks to do stuff and this series 'Countdown to Warlords of Draenor' has been very premature. If it is the case I might drop to monthly updates instead of fortnightly.
Edit: Date announced for November 13. 34 Weeks after this post was made.
This fortnight I finished off Shadowmourne questline and my Avenger of Hyjal Rep. Two slow burning projects now over, thanks to Azadelta, Owl and Lushen. Still collecting Titan Runestones for the Legendary Cloak quests. Item level only went up a single point this fortnight, but still edging closer to the finish line! I should do LFR more to finish up my cloak quest and obtain better armour for both my Holy and Ret sets.
Important Stuff to do:
● Get Holy Item Level to over 553 (538 539/553)
● Get Ret Item Level to over 553 (512/550)
● Finish Legendary Cloak questline (Titan Runestone: 3 8/12)
● Proving Grounds: Proving Yourself: Gold Healer
● Proving Grounds: Proving Yourself: Bronze Damage
Old Raid Stuff to do:
Finish Shadowmourn questline (Shadowfrost Shards: 30/50) (Done)
Glory of the Cataclysm Hero (14/28)
Glory of the Cataclysm Raider (20/24)
● Get all Raid Reps (0 1/2) Avengers of Hyjal (Done); Shado-Pan Assault (Honored)
● Get all Burning Crusade Raid Pet Drops (5/10)
Misc Stuff to do:
Long Road to Shadowmourne... (Part 5)
Three months ago I started the quest The Splintered Throne where I had to collect 50 Shadowfrost Shards as covered in my post Long Road to Shadowmourne... (Part 4).
Each week I'd run Icecrown 25 Heroic with Azadelta, Lushen, and Owl. Some weeks I'd get 9 Shadowfrost Shards, one week I'd get just 1 Shadowfrost Shard. The quest itself needed no real skills, it just took time and having a group of friends willing to drag me though Icecrown Citadel.
Then at last the quest was complete. I handed it in to Highlord Darion Mograine.The next quest was called Empowerment.
Empowerment is one of those quests where you stand around watching a scene play out. In this case Highlord Mograine used the Soul Forge near him to turn Shadow's Edge into Shadowmourne.
Then when I hit Complete Quest I had Shadowmourne!
Next time I'll get into the various other toys you get for getting Shadowmourne, including the Tabard of the Lightbringer you can see in this screenshot.
Flashback: Redeeming the Dead
Many years ago...
Aloysius McTacky walked up the stairs of the Silvermoon City Inn. Upstairs was the accommodation. Upstairs was the accommodation. Laying down was the Blood Knight Sangrias Stillblade, the man who tried to kill McTacky earlier today on Isle of Tribulations. Now he was laying down inside an inn and McTacky stood over him with all the power.
McTacky stood over the prone Sangrias Stillblade. It wasn't his fault, Knight-Lord Bloodvalor had ordered Stillblade to kill McTacky. It had become necessary for McTacky to kill Stillblade. McTacky's hands began to glow with Holy Light. McTacky had learned much of combat and bloodshed, but that wasn't enough for the task at hand.
McTacky's education in the use of the Light has focused on mere charms and parlour tricks thus far. He'd wanted to be a mere Jewel-crafter like the rest of his family. But the time had come for him to learn of the nature and breadth of the power. There was much more to his order. Mastery of the Light requires a focused mind and tremendous willpower. But time was of the essence.
For McTacky this was the longest 10 seconds of his life as he focused the magical energies he had absorbed. Today McTacky had learnt the truth about the source of the Blood Knight's powers. Today Knight-Lord Bloodvalor had ordered Stillblade to kill McTacky. Today McTacky would use the ultimate power on Stillblade.
The power over death.
The magic released from McTacky's hands and bathed Stillblade in a holy light. The spell was known as Redemption. Stillblade arose, alive.
McTacky had raised the dead. He had killed Stillblade not a long time ago on the Isle of Tribulation and now he had to power to raise him.
It had been all part of Knight-Lord Bloodvalor and the Blood Knight Matriarch, Lady Liadrin's plan. Force McTacky to slay Stillblade in self defence, then come back and find out the truth. The gift from our beloved Prince Kael'thas, and the foundation of the Blood Knights' mastery of the Light. Namely the enslaved Naaru M'uru and drain the holy energy from him, granting McTacky the ability to cast holy spells.
Stillblade stood up and wordlessly wandered off.
McTacky could feel the light inside him now. McTacky was now a Paladin. He was now Initiate Blood Knight Aloysius McTacky.
