Warlords of Draenor - Month 19

 

Gear & Raids:

McTacky - Item Level: 728 (Ret)/723 (Holy)

 

Pets/Mounts/Toys:

Obtained a little progress on Brutal Pet Brawler (at 182/250 PVP pet battles wins for the pet). Doing to keep working on this over the rest of the pet battle weekend.

Dungeons/Quests:
Completed one of each of the Mythic Dungeons now (I had only done 3 before this month). Obtained my Strength-DPS Heirloom Trinket. Was a breeze with my Mythic Raid geared guildies with me. Ran a few more dungeons on my Hunter without an Agility-DPS Trinket.

Finished grinding the first 5000 Blackfang Claws for Rumble in the Jungle. I am still 1500 claws shy of the mount since I purchased the pet and follower.

Achievement Catagories:

Quests and Exploration are both now complete. Joining Professions and Reputation. PVP is still clearly my weak point.

Thoughts
The Legion pre-patch is 4 days away. Legion is now 6 weeks away. I think I've done everything (except PvP) that Warlords of Draenor has to offer.

Warlords of Draenor - Month 18

Gear & Raids:

Pets/Mounts/Toys:
No new pets or toys this month. No progress on Brutal Pet Brawler for the Stunted Direhorn pet (150/250 PVP pet battles wins currently). Finally obtained the [Spineclaw Crab] for Going To Need A Bigger Bag.

Fishing/Archaeology:
Draenor Arachnology Complete. Last three Pristines obtained.
● Draenor Clans (18 19/19), Arakkoa (8 10/10)

Took: 319 Draenor Clan Solves, 147 Arakkoa Solves, 192 Ogre Solves. 658 Total

Fished up the last 30 Lunkers the for the Draenor Water Strider mount.

Thoughts
Legion is now 11 weeks away. This month I felt I finished Draenor. Grinded out the last of Archaeology and Fishing for Draenor.  My guild leader Navimie organised a run to finish the Achievements in Hellfire Citadel. Even finished Inspector Gadgetzan at long last.

I've been stockpiling Garrsion Salvage Crates on all my alts for when the pre-expansion patch hits for a number of transmog unlocks. Pushing Garrsion Mission Table as much as I can before the Gold Missions are removed.

Pets/Mounts/Toys:
Finally obtained all the garrison music rolls. My Overwatch pet unlocked. No progress on Brutal Pet Brawler for the Stunted Direhorn pet (150/250 PVP pet battles wins atm).

I already own a [Spineclaw Crab], but I need to loot one on Timeless Isle to finish off Going To Need A Bigger Bag.

Fished up 30 Lunkers this month. Still need 30 more for the Draenor Water Strider mount.

Thoughts
I spent a bunch of this month camping Timeless Isle (for Going To Need A Bigger Bag items) while playing Xenoblade or the new season of Diablo. I haven't felt very engaged with World of Warcraft this month.

Legion was announced during the month. It is now 15 weeks away.

The Spineclaw Crab has me frustrated, 1100 kills of normal crabs and only seen the rare 9 times.

Grabbed a couple new pets, pushing my total to 742. (McTacky's WarcraftPets profile). Hit number 1 on server because Jazeel removed their profile from the page. Trying to get Brutal Pet Brawler (150/250 PVP pet battles wins atm) for the Stunted Direhorn pet.

Thoughts
The start of the month felt a little listless having finished my enormous pet levelling project. I did Archaeology for a while, but got little progress.

Returned to Timeless Isle to afk-camp for Going To Need A Bigger Bag items. While afk camping I've been playing Hearthstone and Stardew Valley.

Grabbed a few items that will become toys in Legion but still aren't toys yet, but I haven't grabbed all the items yet. Storage space is at a premium so thank goodness for my alts being able to hold the toy items.

Still no luck with the two garrison songs that drop from Nefarian (Blackwing Descent) and  Kel'Thuzad (Naxxramas), but I've forgotten to try for them the past couple of weeks.

(McTacky's WarcraftPets profile). Finished all my pet levelling. All 739 of my Combat Pets are level 25 and rare. Obtained another Refer-a-Friend pet this month. I also levelled a Horde Warlock to Level 100 just doing pet battles.

The only mount I got this month was one of the 5 Alliance honor mounts. All honor from from Garrison Mission Table. The 130 attempts at The Love Rocket yielded zero Love Rocket mounts.

Fishing/Archaeology:
Finished off Ogre, got a couple to go on each of the others.

Thoughts
After I got my last 6 Wintergrasp wins, this month has been only been about pet battles, which is appropriate considering it is Pokémon's 20th Anniversary. Now the pet battles are done, next month will be very different!

On Thursdays, Mythic Blackrock Foundary has been fun, the guild and I are on the Mythic Blackhand Fight which has been intense, we are sure to get it soon!

Faith gave me the last pickpocketing Dice Toy. Also finally got my Warning Sign from Tmeless Isle after killing the rare 318 times.

Still still hunting the last two garrison songs that drop from Nefarian (Blackwing Descent) and  Kel'Thuzad (Naxxramas).

(McTacky's WarcraftPets profile).  Obtained a Refer-a-Friend pet this month, otherwise just been levelling them. 164 pets left to level.

Last months pet calculations were flawed. I didn't take into account that the Mystery Bags will give me worthless level up stones once a pet family is finished. 109 Days if I only get Pet Charms from Garrsion pet battles and buy only Mystery Bags. 72 Days if I swap to Flawless Battle-Training Stones when I have 5 Pet Families left.

Avg Flawless Battle-Training Stone Per Day = 30 (Avg 90 Pet Charms Per Day)
Avg Battle-Training Stone Token Per Day = 60 (1 Mystery Bag = 1⅓ Battle-Training Stone Tokens) (Avg 45 Mystery Bags Per Day) (Avg Battle-Training Stone Token Per Class Per Day = 6)

Overall it is more efficient if you swap to Flawless Battle-Training Stones at 4 Classes Left the two methods are at parity at 5. I will be using other pet levelling methods to supplement the garrison pet battles to make it go faster than 72 Days.

Fishing/Archaeology:
A little archaeology, 10 pristine artefacts to go now.

More progress on fishing. Another 10 Lunkers.

PvP:
I finished up Draenei and Worgen Nemesis Quests. The guild helped with Kill Fight Salute! All done now!

Did a heap of Wintergrasp. Now at 94/100 wins for the Wintergrasp Meta Achievement.

Crafting:
I got a Jewelcrafting recipe! Down to 8 recipies left.

Thoughts
Something I haven't talked about for Draenor is the different way I've been playing the game this year. This year in Warcraft, I've tried to be less of an ability clicker. I used to just use the numbers 1-5 and click the other buttons. Now I have moved strafe to A and D and bound Q, E, R & T to spell bar just above 1-5, giving me better options.

This month wasn't any different from last month for me. Most of the time I was Jakur for the toy I finally got 2 days ago. Also been jumping into Wintergrasp every time I notice it is up. Of course there is also all the garrison pet battles each day.

With Jakur done and Wintergrasp almost done, next month is set to be a different sort of month than the past two months.

With Toys, I obtained a heap, and now camping Timeless Isle for Warning Sign. Keep forgetting to do the Alliance Garrison Campaign each week on my Warlock for the toy from that.

I obtained the last mount from the Argent Tournament . All that is left to get the pony for my Squire, which can wait.

Every week I look forward to Thursdays the most, since that is when we are doing Draenor Raid achievements instead of progression.

Outside of Thursdays I feel spread thin, trying to do multiple things at once. I feel I got to get some of these things completed instead of going on piecemeal.

Active Grind:
Draenei & Worgen Nemesis ~need to get a group together for it
Archeology ~fewer pristine left, the harder it gets
Camping Warning Sign (respawns 30-60 min) ~a second to kill, hours of camping.

Passive Grind:
Daily Heroic (once per day) ~15-25 minutes

7 Alliance Garrison Campaign Quests (once every week) ~15-25 minutes

My plan was to just camp out the Warning Sign while doing Wintergrasp when it was up, since those two seem the easiest to completed 100% and get off the list. It is logical, however at 170 kills for the warning sign without it dropping means I could have gotten the fishing done in that time.

Outstanding Pre-WoD Tasks

While I am still enjoying Warlords of Draenor, there are still a few things from before Draenor that I still must do:

Argent Tournament
2 more Argent Tournament Mounts (300 Tokens)
The Argent Tournament Music Sheet and the Argent Tournament Flags becoming Toys hindered this task which I have put very little time into.

Archaeology
Tol'vir Archaeology - Need the Pet & Mount.
As usual I have been doing archaeology in Draenor and using the completed artefacts to purchase Tol'vir Archaeology Fragments. But in 6.1 you can buy missions using 5 completed artefacts each. So it is affecting my progress in WoD.

Jewelcrafting
5 Jewelcrafting Recipes remain missing:
● 1 Rep (Aldor), 3 Raid (Sunwell), 1 Dungeon (Old Hillsbrad).

All of these recipes require an extensive grind which I haven't put any time into since WoD was released.

Reputations
Shado-Pan Assault is still only Revered. I have made some more progress into the rep during this expansion during achievement runs (gone from 8399 pre 6.0.2 to 16889 atm). Just over one more full clear will get me this reputation finished. (3960 per run just short of the 4111 rep I need!)

Celestial Tournament
While I have defeated the Celestial Tournament a few times, I have only purchased 2 of the pets yet. I have to keep doing the Celestial Tournament for a few more week to get the other 2 missing pets.

I am very close with Thundering Raider & Orgrimmar Raider. Under half way with Pandaria Raider. Not much to say here, when there are guild groups going to these places, I always try to get an invite.

Herald of the Titans
I have my Monk stilling at level 80 in Dalaran at 210 item level. You want 226 Item Level for gear plus 232 weapon. Once the group is ready we can enter Uldum and nab this Feat of Strength.

The final Objective List post for MoP! Patch 6.0 hits later today and we enter the Pre-WoD events. Finished off most of the list now, things like [The Longest Day] & [Stormbreaker] and finally hit my Retribution Spec Item Level objective.

It was an insanely productive month. Finished my Gold Challenge Modes & reached Brawlers Guild to Rank 10. Also did the Tol Barad Meta, and Pandaria Dungeon Heroic Meta, all items not on the list, but welcome. Still need to do the extra bosses in Brawlers Guild.

However I did finish my Glory of the Cataclysm Raider & Emperor Shaohao reputations, which were on my bucket list.

It wasn't a Bucket List

A regular fixture of this blog has been my 'bucket list' of things to do before Warlords of Draenor came out called 'Countdown to WoD'.

But here is the problem:
● I started my bucket list 9 November 2013, just after Warlords of Draenor was announced. Almost 10 months ago now. It will be 12 months total when Warlords of Draenor comes out.
● Mists of Pandaria started September 25, 2012 and will end 13 November 13, 2014. Around 25 months.

So my 'bucket list' went for half the expansion! It should have been more of a 'to do list' than a 'get this done before WoD list'. I am going to retag them from WoD to MoP.

So instead of rushing around desperately trying to get these things done, I should have just been enjoying the expansion!

Pro: I was motivated into doing the dallies so I'd finish off the reputations.
Con: I rushed the reputations and only went back to do the achievements related to those dallies last month.

Pro: I focused me to do a list of things.
Con: My priorities were very skewed. I was rushing around doing the list instead of things other people in the guild were doing at the time, like the new Timeless Isle and Gold Challenge Modes. Now I am playing catch-up on those two things as well.

Pro: It focused me into doing a lot on my Main.
Con: All but abandoned doing anything on my alts except getting them to level cap.

Pro: It pushed me into finishing of a lot of jewelcrafting collecting
Con: I actually had time to have simply farmed many of the recipes instead of paying some ridiculous AH prices for it!

Pro: It kept me logging in to get stuff done.
Con: It kept me logging in to get stuff done!

I'll try to approach World of Draenor differently. Not sure what that will be exactly, but I'll do it differently!

Countdown to Warlords of Draenor (37 week update/16 weeks to go)

Didn't raid much during the past four weeks, so not much movement with the Item Level. I did manage to finish up my August Celestials & Golden Lotus reputations on my mage Zutacky, so I can now make Royal Satchel (and other things)! Almost finished off Pandaria Quest Achievements.

I have been busy with Diablo III: Reaper of Souls the past two weeks, but I still attended the guild raids. The big news is that I've started attending the Normal Raids, not just the Flex Raids, with my guild, Frostwolves! After a couple of runs I beat my goal of 553 item level for holy! Now to push towards 566! I also now have my four set bonus.

I haven't killed Garrosh on Normal yet since that is done with two heals and not three. If my Ret spec was more viable I would be able to stay in the run. I need to research how to heal better in that fight as well.

The next Countdown to WoD update will be in four weeks, not two.

38 or less weeks 34 weeks to go until Warlords of Draenor and Diablo III: Reaper of Souls is out today.

Very significant jump in my item level having gotten my Flex Chest/Shoulder upgrades and also completing my Legendary Cloak Quests. Still short of 553 in my holy set. Will keep trying for better Neck as well as doing Ordos now. Proved myself as a decent damager in Proving Grounds, but haven't hit Gold in either category yet. I've managed to do over 100 days of Orgrimmar jewelcrafting dallies since my countdown to Warlords of Draenor began and finally got around to farming Ancient Guo-Lai Cache for both of the last Pandaria recipes.
