Long Road to Shadowmourne... (Part 5)

Three months ago I started the quest The Splintered Throne where I had to collect 50 Shadowfrost Shards as covered in my post Long Road to Shadowmourne... (Part 4).

Each week I'd run Icecrown 25 Heroic with Azadelta, Lushen, and Owl. Some weeks I'd get 9 Shadowfrost Shards, one week I'd get just 1 Shadowfrost Shard. The quest itself needed no real skills, it just took time and having a group of friends willing to drag me though Icecrown Citadel.

Then at last the quest was complete. I handed it in to Highlord Darion Mograine. The next quest was called Empowerment.

Empowerment is one of those quests where you stand around watching a scene play out. In this case Highlord Mograine used the Soul Forge near him to turn Shadow's Edge into Shadowmourne.

Then when I hit Complete Quest I had Shadowmourne!

Next time I'll get into the various other toys you get for getting Shadowmourne, including the Tabard of the Lightbringer you can see in this screenshot.

Long Road to Shadowmourne... (Part 4)

One year, 10 months and sixteen days and one expansion ago I spoke of obtaining the quest Unholy Infusion in my post Long Road to Shadowmourne... (Part 3).

The quest was simple. Use the Abomination Potion while fighting Professor Putricide in 25 man mode then save up 100 energy to use the Infuse Shadow's Edge ability. Also have Shadow's Edge equipped at the same time.

I was in a guild group getting guild achievements in the instance. I was with Hunterfaith, Xynzelle, Voros, Evea, Jezael, and Yig,  I wanted to do my quest but we were also after Nausea, Heartburn, Indigestion... (25 player). Which meant while I was the Abomination I couldn't use the Regurgitated Ooze ability. We have Mists of Pandaria DPS now and this wasn't a problem.

I handed in Unholy Infusion. My next quest was Blood Infusion.

Blood Infusion is the quest where you have to become a vampire and bite three people during the Queen Lana'thel fight while having Shadow's Edge equipped. Something we couldn't do during this run. The problem everyone you bite will turn into a vampire. If they don't bite someone they will be mind controlled. So for me to bite 3 people, even if I was the first bitten, would mean we would need twelve people at least.

20 days later was in a group with Azadelta, Lushen, Owl (Exray). The four of us were able to get it done on 25 man heroic. I make sure to have Shadow's Edge equipped before we start.

Stage One: I rush in towards Queen Lana'thel with Owl while Aza and Lushen stand back. I get Blood Mirror. However Lushen is bitten, not me. Aza runs in and gets blood mirror and I stand near Lushen.

Stage Two: Sixty Seconds in, Lushen turns into a vampire and bites me. I need to wait sixty seconds to bite my first person for the quest. Lushen uses Ra'sha's Sacrificial Dagger so he dies and doesn't bite anyone else (if you don't bite someone every 60 seconds you will get mind controlled). We are down to myself and two others and I need to bite three.

Stage Three: After Sixty Seconds I can bite my first person. I bite Azadelta. Aza uses his own Ra'sha's Sacrificial Dagger so he isn't turned into a vampire like Lushen. Aza then uses a soulstone to get back up without the rebuff and at no risk of being mind controlled.

Stage Four: Another 60 seconds pass and I bite my second person. Aza again. This time Lushen uses Rebirth on Aza to get Aza back up again.

Stage Five: 60 seconds later I bite Aza for the third and final time. We then nuke the boss Queen Lana'thel before either Aza or myself have to bite anyone else. Quest Complete.

The next quest is Frost Infusion. I need Sindragosa to frost breath me four times. In my holy gear and Shadow's Edge, I cast Righteous Fury to tank the dragon. I am able to keep threat and after an Air Phase, I take the fourth frost breaths. After some damage the undead dragon is slain.

I will have to farm bosses in 25-man for 50 Shadowfrost Shard. This will take a few trips.

Long Road to Shadowmourne... (Part 3)

Yesterday I completed my list of things to collect for The Sacred and the Corrupt. However I zone into ICC and I can't hand in to Highlord Darion Mograine. Yet there is a yellow question mark on the minimap at this spot! I start freaking out

Why you not want my items I collected Highlord?

I even /console reloadui and got no where. Then I decide to read the quest again. Not reading this quest in particular had messed me up in the past.

Place Light's Vengeance, 25 Primordial Saronite, Rotface's Acidic Blood, and Festergut's Acidic Blood in Highlord Mograine's runeforge in Icecrown Citadel.

So I looked around and found the runeforge.

Then Shadow's Edge was mine!

What do you mean I can't transmog my axe to look like this!? Shadow's Edge is an Epic, not a Legendary!

The next quest was A Feast of Souls. I had to kill 50 mobs inside ICC with Shadow's Edge (or as I found out, just hit them once with Shadow's Edge then kill them with my normal weapon).

So I changed the raid difficulty to 10 man and started killing some trash. And dying. A lot. After two hours I had killed 50 and died 19 times. But I had that second quest complete!

Now on Unholy Infusion. To attack Putricide while controling the abomination and doing something.

Long Road to Shadowmourne... (Part 2)

Today spent what JP and honor I had on all my alt:

[Light's Vengeance] 1/1
[Festergut's Acidic Blood] 1/1
[Rotface's Acidic Blood] 1/1
[Primordial Saronite] 4/25 16/25

Remains:
9 [Primordial Saronite] = 2034 JP or 3375 Honor

So I am now getting close!

UPDATE:
OMG Roshii just gave me the last 9 [Primordial Saronite]! Thanks Roshii!

Long Road to Shadowmourne...

Today spent what JP and honor I had on [Primordial Saronite] and managed to buy four of them. Need 25 in total for the quest.

[Light's Vengeance] 1/1
[Festergut's Acidic Blood] 1/1
[Rotface's Acidic Blood] 1/1
[Primordial Saronite] 4/25

5586 JP left to get
Or 8625 Honor to get 5750 JP
Or will rolls on [Primordial Saronite] in Icecrown 25

At the moment getting 8625 Honor is much faster than getting 5750 JP I think.

However next week after the patch, everything changes.

Everything that currently awards VP will award JP instead.
Everything that currently awards Conquest will award Honor instead.

So that'll throws out the existing ratio.

Light's Vengeance

[Light's Vengeance] really was something I should have known about for a long time.

It was just an item on my list of things to get during the quest The Sacred and the Corrupt.

The game even went out of it's way to tell me where to go. I had always assumed it was a bug when I looked at the map since Icecrown Citadel wasn't at that big #1 on the map.

But had I bothered to scroll down the quest text I'd have realised that not all the items were expected to be collected inside ICC.
You must return to Frostmourne Cavern and recover [Light's Vengeance], Arthas' discarded hammer. Reforged with saronite and etched with the acidic blood of the Lich King's abominations, it will provide the foundation for our work

So now I finally know better so decide to go into that cave and find out the truth about [Light's Vengeance]I had come into Frostmourne Cavern before on MacTacky during the quest Frostmourne Cavern, so I thought I had done everything possible at this lore location. (place where Arthas abandons his hammer, takes up Frostmourne, Muradin dies and retconed alive).

I step into the cave and I enter a phased enviroment. The Onslaught mobs outside and the Revenant Elementals inside all disappear. Ahead of me appears something bathed with white light. I head to this beacon. As I reach the light I see that a hammer is inside it. It must be [Light's Vengeance]!

Oh Ice Snap! An ice trap. But I wasn't flagged... Then the Lich King shows up. I've only killed that bloke twice atop of his Icecrown Citadel, so I wasn't confident here. The Lich King hits away [Light's Vengeance] across the cave.

Lucky for me it was another of those time where the Lich King has be dead to rights, but he decides to outsource my doom. He summons an army of the dead along with Vegard the Unforgiven. Then the Lich King leaves, assuming his plan worked. Arthus, Ner'zhul, King of Lich, whatever. That is #125 on the Evil Overlord's List.

I fight though the army of Wretched Ghoul with annoying slowing ability that stacks 4 times to slow me down by 80%. All while in holy gear. With the army constantly respawning on top of me. So eventually I reach the hammer. So it is over, right?
No! Of course not. The hammer enters a ball of light and them Smites down the army.
And Vegard the Unforgiven too.
So... everything is dead now? Yes? I can take [Light's Vengeance] now?

Nope! Vegard the Unforgiven was still alive! Well undead. He was an undead pretending to be dead, but was actually just still undead.

Now with Vegard the Unforgiven dead again and no longer undead, I reach for my prize.

[Light's Vengeance] was mine, no tricks, no illusions.

Now to spend 6650 JP on 25x[Primordial Saronite] to move on with this quest I've had for so long.

Alone in the Darkness!

Another Ashes' PUG. This time to the last boss of Ulduar 25 Player.

Gained:
Alone in the Darkness (25 player)
One Light in the Darkness (25 player)
Two Lights in the Darkness (25 player)
1/3 of the way into In His House He Waits Dreaming (25 player)

Already had:
Three Lights in the Darkness (25 player)
Drive Me Crazy (25 player)
He's Not Getting Any Older (25 player)

What happened:
The first time around the group didn't know to look away from the purple stuff in the last phase we were wiped (it didn't help that people weren't going into the portals either).

The second time I accdently walked into the room after zoning back in and had to wipe. Sorry again everyone! At least I was the first back into the room so only a couple of us died from it.

We got Alone in the Darkness (25 player) on the third attempt. The group failed on Drive Me Crazy (25 player) in the last phase with the purple lightning.

I won the Fragment of Val'anyr by default after no one in the run said they were collecting and no one else wanted it. It is my first fragment.

Sulfuras Progress

After purchasing 8 [Sulfuron Ingot], today's goal was to farm up some [Blood of the Mountain] and the best way to do that is to kill Molten Destroyers inside Molten Core, leave instance and Reset. Since McTacky is already saved for this week, I went in with Atain. 14 MC Runs killing Molten Destroyers, got 4 [Blood of the Mountain].

Progress:
[Sulfuron Ingot] (8/8) +8 -Done
[Dark Iron Bar] (20/20) +4 -Done
[Arcanite Bar] (24/50) +14
[Essence of Fire] (25/25) -Done
[Blood of the Mountain] (7/10) +4
[Lava Core] (10/10) -Done

Honor to Sulfuras

Today Warcraft gave me a nice birthday present. The [Eye of Sulfuras]!

But this does mean I an honor-bound to make [Sulfuras, Hand of Ragnaros] now.

So the first step I took today was then to get the [Sulfuron Hammer] recipie on Atain, who as Black Smithing.

[Sulfuron Ingot] (0/8)
[Dark Iron Bar] (16/20)
[Arcanite Bar] (12/50)
[Essence of Fire] (25/25)
[Blood of the Mountain] (3/10)
[Lava Core] (10/10)

Lucky I had a few of the mats left over from my Dark Iron Set so I am about half way there.

So busy last week!
